Representative Miller was run off the road and Representative Kammack received death threats after disclosing an ectopic pregnancy.
Members of Congress are facing heightened threats to their safety as instances of political violence have increased. Representative Max Miller of Ohio was run off the road last month while driving in his home state by a man who yelled anti-semitic slurs and displayed a Palestinian flag.
The Jewish congressman stated, “As I was driving to work, some unhinged, deranged man decided to lay on his horn and run me off the road, when he couldn’t get my attention, to show me a Palestinian flag, not to mention death to Israel, death to me, that he wanted to kill me and my family.”
The perpetrator, a Muslim physician, has been charged and the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Ohio are continuing the investigation.
Representative Cat Kammack of Florida recently shared her experience with an ectopic pregnancy that occurred a year ago. She relayed that the medical team was confused over how to treat her due to the false information from abortion advocates claiming that treatment for miscarriages is included under abortion-restricting legislation. The congresswoman reported how such deceptive messaging made the hospital staff fearful of losing their licenses. This delayed her care for hours and put her life at risk until she was able to show and convince them the state law restricting abortion did not apply to care for miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies.
“It was absolute fearmongering at its worst,” Representative Kammack said. She also pointed to the wrong messaging of abortion promoters, stating, “There will be some comments like, ‘Well, thank God we have abortion services,’ even though what I went through wasn’t an abortion.”
The congresswoman, who is pregnant again and due in August, stated on June 25, “Today, we had to evacuate our offices due to imminent death threats against me, my unborn child, my family, and my staff. These threats erupted after the Wall Street Journal reported on my life-threatening ectopic pregnancy—a nonviable pregnancy with no heartbeat.”
She continued, “Since then, we’ve received thousands of hate-filled messages and dozens of credible threats from pro-abortion activists, which law enforcement is actively investigating. In light of recent violence against elected officials, these threats are taken very seriously.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God’s protection over members of Congress both in Washington, D.C. and in their home districts.
- For the safety of both federal and state legislators, as well as their families, as they serve in public office.
- For medical and hospital staff across the nation to know the laws regarding care for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies are separate from abortion restrictions.
- For comfort for the family of slain Minnesota state Representative Melissa Hortman and healing and full recovery for state Senator Hoffman and his wife.
